Summer Studies

Christ the Teacher faculty is encouraging summer practice in order to keep skills sharp. It is no longer possible to go to school from August until June and then put studies on the “back burner” for two months. In order to be totally ready for a great start in September we encourage students to consider the following over the summer.

Practice Our Catholic Faith

We practice our faith by:
(A) Keeping God in our lives. Continue attendance at Mass each week and remember to pray each day.
(B) Keeping in our actions in loving and caring service to our family and commmunity (local and global). We encourage all student to participate in at least one service project during the summer months. Be ready to at least verbally share your experience with your classmates. It can be an individual project, a family project, service among friends. Care for the environment is part of global service.

Practice Math

Please practice math facts over the summer. The younger students should be able to repeat their basic addition and subtraction facts from memory to twenty and the older students should concentrate on multiplication and division facts to the twelve times table so they are easily recalled. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders should know fraction – decimal – and percent equivalents. Students should respond as fast as they can say their name. Mastery of these facts is essential to success in math at all levels.
