Living our Faith in Outreach at CTTCS

SPECIAL NEEDS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PREPARE FOR A CAREER THROUGH OPPORTUNTIES FOR WORK EXPERIENCE AT CHRIST THE TEACHER CATHOLIC SCHOOL

CTTCS opens doors for high school seniors living with moderate cognitive or physical disabilities so they may gain transferable and marketable career skills.   The program provides assistance in the cafeteria/kitchen and support for teachers of our younger students.  It affords the opportunity for Tradeworks students to learn to live more independently, gain confidence, and become mature adults who are capable of supporting themselves.  CTTCS provides a loving and caring environment of acceptance before the students graduate and go into the world of adult living.  The high school participating students have proven themselves by being accepted into one of the trades offered at the Network School for Entrepreneurial Sciences of Christina School District and by later being among those chosen to have a work related volunteer experience at Newark area sites.  The students are at CTTCS usually weekly from October until May and are accompanied by their teachers on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio.  Not only do we give to the high school students but we are touched by the ways in which they demonstrate the value of good manners and great work ethic to our students. We wish these friends all the best as they seek a life career. We are grateful to be able to participate in that effort.
