Uniforms

Uniform Company: Rush Uniform, Inc in New Castle, DE

To obtain used uniforms in good condition, please consider participation in our “Unicycle Day” (uniform recycle day) in June.  Parents can purchase second hands uniforms at an extremely reasonable price.

Students are expected to wear the prescribed uniform each day and to demonstrate by their appearance, a pride in themselves and in Christ the Teacher Catholic School. Neatness and cleanliness in personal attire are part of a child’s education and the responsibility of the parents. When a child looks and feels good about himself/herself, he/she acts and works accordingly.  Any student not in compliance with the dress code will not be admitted to class until they are in proper attire. Personal appearance that constitutes a distraction is not permitted. Final approval/disapproval is at the discretion of the Principal.

  • Students are expected to come to school in a state of cleanliness.
  • Both the dress uniform and the gym uniform include 100% white sneakers and regulation burgundy or tan socks 2 inches above the top of the sneakers.
  • On the designated gym day, students have permission to wear the gym uniform for the full day. Gym shorts must be an appropriate length and regulation style.
  • The uniform includes 100% white sneakers, solid colored burgundy, tan, black, or white socks 2 inches above the top of the sneaker, and appropriate haircuts and styles (a traditional boy haircut for male students).
  • Students are not permitted to wear make-up of any kind or jewelry other than that specified below.
  • If students are not in proper uniform, consequences may apply which are at the discretion of the Administration.
In all cases, the administration reserves the right to determine if the chosen uniform and accesseries are within school regulations or not.Out-of-UniformIf at any time during the year an exception in uniform is necessary, a note of explanation must be sent to the child’s teacher who will forward it to the principal.  The note should indicate the expected date by which the uniform will be complete.

Hair Styles/Grooming:

A student’s hair is to be neat, clean, and groomed conservatively–No Extreme Styles. Hairstyles should be attractive but not “trendy.”  The hair of the boys may not touch their collar or hang down in their face.  It must be cut in a traditional boy haircut style with no part of the hair being long or standing out.  Boys and girls hair color must be a natural hair color.  What is or is not considered an acceptable haircut is at the discretion of the faculty and administration.  Students will not be admitted to class if their haircut is considered to be unacceptable. Our young gentlemen should be clean shaven.

Headbands
If girls choose to wear a headband, it must be of a color of the uniform (khaki/burgundy/black/white) and of a simple non-distracting style.  Ribbons and streamers cannot dangle down from the band.  Bands may not be greater than a 3/4 inch in width.  Rush Uniforms has  bands that match our uniform.  All hair accessories (bows, barrettes, etc.) must be the colors in the uniform.

Kilts
Please note: Girls in grades 5 – 8 who roll or cut their kilts will lose the privilege of using a kilt and will be directed to wear uniform slacks.

Belts
Students will be required to wear a solid black or brown belt if the waistbands are not appropriately fitted. Appropriate fitting is at the discretion of the administration.

Jewelry:

Although jewelry is not a part of the school uniform, appropriate post earrings of a small and conservative style, watches, and rings are permitted to be worn by the girls (one earring only in each ear). For safety reasons, students may not wear dangling earrings. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings but may wear watches. Bracelets, both ankle and wrist, pins, buttons, and nail polish are not a part of the school uniform. This includes all rope, yarn, and beaded neck, wrist, and ankle bands. A religious medal or cross on a chain is permitted.  Medic Alert jewelry is an exception to the no jewelry rule.

Wearable technology, such as fitness trackers or Smart Watches, which allow for notifications, such as email alerts, caller ID, text notification, social networking, photo/video capturing, and/or calendar alerts are prohibited. No student in PreK through Grade 2 may wear any form of wearable technology.  Devices that have the capability to connect to a personal technology device (cell phone, tablet, etc.) are never permitted, even if the connecting device is out of reach.
